Amanda Bright-Somers

Hi, my name is Amanda. I grew up on the coast of North Carolina and recently relocated to the foothills. I earned both my Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work degrees from Appalachian State University and East Carolina University, respectively. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist. I have also completed extensive post-graduate training and certification in Dialectical Behavorial Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization, and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Integrative Medicine Health Provider (CMHIMP). With over 10 years experience in social work, I try to never stop learning and I like staying up-to-date on the latest treatment modalities and theories in order to provide my clients the best care possible.

About the Southern Summit

The Southern Summit of Mount Everest is the second highest peak on earth rising to an impressive 28,704 ft above sea level. The Southern Summit of Everest known as the “death zone” provides climbers with two things – The chance to rest before ascending to the summit of Everest or a place to turn around before the ascent. At this height, climbers are often already experiencing altitude sickness, hypothermia, and exhaustion. At Southern Summit Counseling, we want to give each client the same two options – Continue climbing towards the summit of a new life, new outlooks, and unmatched achievement or the chance to turn around and continue living with the same issues, concerns, and complications that you are now facing. Just like the guides on Everest, we want to assist you in setting your safety lines, organizing a rescue, and evacuating you out of troubled times. Let Southern Summit Counseling be your guide.
